About
Clinical Extract, formerly Research Data Pipeline.
Clinical Extract is EHR data extraction for research: study-scoped exports from your EHR's certified bulk FHIR API, run in your environment and delivered as a CSV with a data dictionary.
What it does
Clinical Extract connects to your EHR as a read-only backend app, builds the study cohort, exports the resource types the protocol names, and flattens the result into one analysis-ready CSV, with a data-dictionary.json that describes every column. Works with Epic, Oracle Health, eClinicalWorks, athenahealth, MEDITECH, NextGen and Veradigm.
Who makes it
Saga IT builds Clinical Extract, and the product’s full name is Clinical Extract by Saga IT. Saga IT is a healthcare IT firm that works on EHR integration, HL7 and FHIR tooling, and clinical data pipelines; its own site is saga-it.com. Clinical Extract is a Saga IT product with its own site and its own sales and demo team.
How we work with you
We install Clinical Extract on your server or in your cloud tenant, next to the EHR it reads. Patient data moves only between your EHR and your environment, and we never receive it. The token carries read-only scopes and cannot change a record.
We also handle EHR migration and archiving.
The name
Clinical Extract says what the product does: it extracts clinical data for a study. It was first known under an internal working name; the current name arrived with this site in 2026. Clinical Extract™ is a trademark of Saga IT. FHIR® is the registered trademark of HL7 and is used with the permission of HL7. The EHR names on this site belong to their vendors, and Clinical Extract is not affiliated with any of them.
